Volunteers Who Match Pets with Loving Homes

Located in Perry County, OH,  PAWS – Perry Animal Welfare Society is a 501(c)3 that was established in 2018. Our mission is to re-home dogs and cats with loving and committed families.

We do not own or operate a shelter. We have an incredible team of volunteers and foster families who temporarily care for the pets we rescue.

We thoroughly review applications from those who apply to foster or adopt our dogs or cats. We do our best to ensure that the family or individual is committed to the pet’s care for its entire life.

We strive to make sure the pet is the best fit for the family or individual, and likewise.

Pets in Need

We know everyone is patiently waiting for an update on our NYE emergency. What started out as a seemingly hopeless situation turned in to miracle after miracle. Mama is nothing short of extraordinary. Still just a puppy herself, she gave birth to a litter of nine babies—and then faced a nightmare no dog should ever endure. When her puppies were only two weeks old, Mama and her entire litter were put outside in brutal winter weather, forced to survive for over three weeks in a wire crate, lined only with cardboard and some straw. On New Year’s Eve, with roads covered and temperatures dropping to 22 degrees, help finally came. Through the compassion and determination of so many, Mama and her nine puppies were rescued just in time—saved from yet another freezing night. It’s hard to comprehend how she survived… or how she managed to keep nine tiny lives alive alongside her own. Mama gave everything she had, instinctively, selflessly and bravely to keep her babies alive. Can you even imagine that first night when they didn’t have to fight and struggle just to stay warm. Many thanks to Monica and Tiffany our angels here on earth who made this NYE miracle happen. They literally saved lives on the very last night of 2025.Later this week this group of survivors will have their first vet visit. After Jan. 22nd They will be ready for homes of their own. We are not accepting applications yet, but we will be looking for foster to adopt homes that live in Central or SE Ohio so that you can continue veterinary care at our clinics in Logan or Somerset. Once pups and mama are spayed-neutered and have received all vaccines, the adoption will be finalized and you can transition to the clinic of your choice. Many thanks to everyone who shared that NYE post, that’s exactly how we were able to save these babies! It is indeed a Happy New Year! ... See MoreSee Less

‼️UPDATE‼️ Mom and puppies are safe! They are in route to a temporary foster who will keep them until we can get them moved to a long term foster within the next week. Thank you facebook family for coming to their rescue! Thank you Monica for driving in a snowstorm to get everyone to safety. We truly have the best supporters ♥️🐾♥️‼️URGENT‼️We know, it’s NYE. Everyone has plans. This situation is DIRE. Let me first start by saying that the owner knows that these puppies aren’t in a good situation. That they are not receiving adequate care. That’s why she’s reaching out for help. There is no need for negative comments, we understand you are angry, frustrated…..all the things, so are we. However, bashing the owner will not improve the situation for this mom/pups. We are foster based. If we don’t have a foster, we can’t help. Period. There’s no place we can just “put them”.Mom is seriously underweight. 9 puppies have drained her. The puppies are 5 weeks old and have been LIVING OUTSIDE SINCE THEY WERE TWO WEEKS OLD! Their shelter is a crate with cardboard sides and a blanket thrown over it. I can’t believe they have survived this winter weather. Because of their age, mom and puppies need to go together, they have recently started eating on their own. We are looking for a foster for this family of 10. We are open to help from another rescue, we need them inside immediately. A foster must be able to have a space that is separate from other dogs in the home. Your dogs MUST be current on vaccines and spay/neutered. This mom and pups has not received veterinary care of any kind. Mom is housebroken IF you are attentive to taking her outside regularly. Fosters need to be able to travel to our vet clinic in Logan or Somerset for care.I know this is a big ask on NYE, but these pups could die if we don’t intervene. Please help us help them. Submit a foster agreement using the link found in the comments below. If you can’t help, please share. This family is counting on us. ... See MoreSee Less
