Volunteers Who Match Pets with Loving Homes

Located in Perry County, OH,  PAWS – Perry Animal Welfare Society is a 501(c)3 that was established in 2018. Our mission is to re-home dogs and cats with loving and committed families.

We do not own or operate a shelter. We have an incredible team of volunteers and foster families who temporarily care for the pets we rescue.

We thoroughly review applications from those who apply to foster or adopt our dogs or cats. We do our best to ensure that the family or individual is committed to the pet’s care for its entire life.

We strive to make sure the pet is the best fit for the family or individual, and likewise.

FOSTER SECUREDDucky had a vet visit yesterday. We received some good news and bad. Here’s the real problem. He’s currently still at the shelter. While we adore our friends at the shelter it’s the absolute worst place for Ducky to recover. He’s immunocompromised, he needs individual one on one care and a careful re-feeding program. Our shelter is more than full, our amazing dog warden has been a one woman show for months. She needs help and so does Ducky. This emaciated boy has a body score 1/5. He’s anemic and his kidney numbers are wonky. His ears have open wounds and scabs from what we are assuming are fly bites. Despite all this he was a perfect gentleman yesterday during his exam even during the uncomfortable pokes and prods. We know he doesn’t feel well and is low on energy due to the anemia so we won’t see his true personality for weeks but he’s a very sweet, affectionate and loving boy. We need a foster (or adoptive) home in Central or SE Ohio so Ducky can continue to receive his much needed veterinary. If you have other pets they must be vaccinated, spay/neutered and on regular prevention for flea/ticks/heartworm disease. If you can help even short term until we can make other arrangements, please apply using the link in the comments. If you’ve read this please share! The more eyes that see this the more likely we find help for Ducky boy. ... See MoreSee Less

Look at Athena being a big girl! No more bottles for her. 4 weeks old and we are breathing a sigh of relief, we believe the worst is behind her. Shes devouring a mixture of formula and canned food like it’s her job!Athena is the lone survivor in her family, none of her siblings or mother made it. She is a German Shepherd mix who has lots of sass and spunk. She’s found her voice and is learning to play.In the next several weeks we’d like to place her in a home that will forever be hers. We need a a foster to adopt home in Central or SE Ohio so Athena can receive her veterinary care at one of our partner clinics in Logan or Somerset. Once she is old enough to be spayed the adoption will be finalized.Other pets in your home must be spay/neutered, vaccinated (by a veterinarian), on regular prevention fleas/ticks/heartworm disease. Meet Ducky, he was surrendered to our humane officer as part of a humane case. He’s 8 months old and 24lbs, as you can see, seriously underweight. Sadly, flies thought his poor ears were a tasty treat. He’s a mixed breed. This is pure speculation on our parts but maybe, Lab, hound, Golden Catahoula……it’s really anyone’s guess. His feet are webbed resulting in his name Ducky. We are looking for a home (foster or adopt) that can help him recover properly. Someone that can stick to a re-feeding plan of multiple small meals throughout the day and get him to vet appointments as needed. We cover the expense of veterinary care and anything else he may need. He was left outside so we are assuming he is not housebroken, but he is young so it should not been difficult to get him on the right path. To qualify, you must live in Central or SE Ohio and can travel to one of our clinics in Logan or Somerset. Other pets in your home MUST be spay/neutered, current on vaccines, and on regular prevention for fleas/ticks/heartworm. To apply click the link in the comments below. Please, please share. This boy needs in a home to start his recovery. ... See MoreSee Less
