Volunteers Who Match Pets with Loving Homes

Located in Perry County, OH,  PAWS – Perry Animal Welfare Society is a 501(c)3 that was established in 2018. Our mission is to re-home dogs and cats with loving and committed families.

We do not own or operate a shelter. We have an incredible team of volunteers and foster families who temporarily care for the pets we rescue.

We thoroughly review applications from those who apply to foster or adopt our dogs or cats. We do our best to ensure that the family or individual is committed to the pet’s care for its entire life.

We strive to make sure the pet is the best fit for the family or individual, and likewise.

Pets in Need

UPDATE: We have a foster for Zoey!!Facebook we are coming to you again, absolutely begging for your help. You all know mama Bella, our little mama with 11 new babies who almost hemorrhaged to death. This is Zoey, her older daughter. She’s 2 and in nearly the same situation. Outside, chained to a box that’s less than stellar. Crated in the house when allowed inside. Unspayed. It won’t be long until she’s pregnant too. Her owner is willing to surrender her and do the right thing, but we need a place to put her. A foster home to get her to the next level. A home where she can be inside with her people. The dog shelter is at capacity. They have dogs in every available space. In fact they already have her brothers. They’ve been there for TEN MONTHS. Animal welfare is in a crisis. People aren’t spaying, there aren’t enough fosters or adopters. There’s not enough space, there aren’t enough resources. The solutions are being far outpaced by the problems. We can’t keep up, and the animals are paying the price. Please send help!If you can foster please submit an application. Link in the comments below. Fosters with other pets must have them spay/neutered, vaccinated and on prevention for fleas, ticks, and heartworm disease.Zoey is said to be good with cats , other dogs and kids. She keeps a clean crate and about 80% housebroken. Please share, let’s save this girl too. ... See MoreSee Less

Late, late, last night after most of you were in bed, we were able to reunite Bella with her babies. What a joyous reunion. Bella had zero symptoms of severe anemic other than the massive blood loss. Even when she was hemorrhaging she remained alert, eating and most of all, devoted to taking care of her babies. In true mama/warrior style she was letting nothing stop her from caring for her babies. Including, a red blood count that was circling the drain. We remain cautiously optimistic that she is headed in the right direction. Tomorrow starts her series of follow up appointments and repeat bloodwork with her primary veterinarian Dr. Hern. We want to thank you for all of your prayers, well wishes, and donations. You truly made a difference. ♥️🐾♥️ ... See MoreSee Less

We know Bella has been the focus of everyone’s attention, we will update you later today on her, but for now, Scout.Scout has an equally tragic story. Put outside in the cold and snow at 2 weeks old with his mom and siblings. They had nothing more than a cardboard box for shelter. A heroic New Years Eve rescue brought him and his family to safety. Scout is now the last man standing. Everyone in his family has found a home to call their own, but him. His foster family reports him to be a 3 month old bundle of joy. He’s the perfect mix of adorable and clumsy, still figuring out his big puppy paws and making everyone laugh along the way. He loves to play, but his favorite thing is cuddling up close once he’s tired out. He has such a sweet, gentle personality and just wants to be near his people. He’s still a baby and learning the world, so he needs a family who will give him love, patience, and lots of snuggles as he grows. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion with a big heart, he’s your guy. He naps willing in his crate as his safe space and is learning the fine art of housebreaking. He’s not accident free just yet but he’s well on his way. Scout still needs a couple rounds of vaccines and to be neutered. We are looking for a foster to adopt home that can finish his appointments at one of our partner clinics in Logan or Somerset, Oh. Other pets in your home MUST be current on vaccines, spay/neutered, and on regular preventatives for fleas, ticks, and heartworm disease. The link to apply is in the comments below. Sundays shares for Scout! ... See MoreSee Less

Without a doubt, the last 24hrs have been some of the most difficult and harrowing that we have experienced in our 8 year existence. Yesterday, Bella gave birth to 13 babies. 11 live births and 2 stillborn. 4 hours after the last puppy, Bella began to hemorrhage. Thanks to the quick action of her amazing foster family, Bella and her puppies were transported to MedVet-Diley. Bella‘s red blood count was dangerously low. She has been admitted to the ICU where she is receiving blood transfusions. Our board members and a key Volunteer stepped up to bottle feed the babies. If you’ve ever wondered what a group of women can accomplish in the wee hours of the morning, give them a hemorrhaging dog with 11 puppies that are dependent on her survival. Stuff. Gets. Done. What a village ♥️Obviously, this was not in our financial plan. Bella and her puppies were already going to put a significant strain on our bank account just with the routine vet care. ICU care, blood transfusions, puppy formula, bottles. It’s been nothing short of a nightmare. Not giving Bella the best chance for survival is not an option when there are 11 lives depending on her. We need your help to do this The link to donate is in the comments below. If you send a private message, we can give you an address to mail a check, or you can donate via Facebook We will update you on Bella‘s condition as we get updates from the hospital. Prayers, good thoughts, and well wishes are much needed along with shares of this post. This did not have to happen. Had we not intervened these puppies and mom would’ve faced certain death. A simple spay of Mom could’ve prevented all of this. Responsible pet ownership starts with you! #spayneutersaveslives #VaccinesSaveLives ... See MoreSee Less
