Perry Animal Welfare Society

When you bring a furry friend into your home, you’re making a lifetime commitment to care for and love that pet. It means being financially responsible and having a stable lifestyle.

Volunteers Who Match Pets with Loving Homes

Located in Perry County, OH,  PAWS – Perry Animal Welfare Society is a 501(c)3 that was established in 2018. Our mission is to re-home dogs and cats with loving and committed families.

We do not own or operate a shelter. We have an incredible team of volunteers and foster families who temporarily care for the pets we rescue.

We thoroughly review applications from those who apply to foster or adopt our dogs or cats. We do our best to ensure that the family or individual is committed to the pet’s care for its entire life.

We strive to make sure the pet is the best fit for the family or individual, and likewise.

Pets in Need

How about your first up close look at our babies? They will change so much from week to week. We will share weekly updates. Photo of dad will be in the comments. On March 20th, we will need to move the mom and pups to another foster due to circumstances beyond everyone’s control. We know this is a really big ask but is there anyone who can help us out? They really need their own space a basement, a spare room. It is imperative if you have other dogs you can keep them separated. Additionally, your pets must be vaccinated, spay/neutered, and on preventatives for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. You also must live in Central or SE Ohio so that you are near our vet clinic for follow up care. The link to foster is in the comments below. Please share! ... See MoreSee Less

Bringing home a shelter dog can sometimes feel like opening a grab bag — especially when they arrive as a stray with no background story. We do our very best to match each dog to the right home based on what we know at the time. When Gary came to us, all we knew was that he was heartworm positive and would need treatment. What we’ve since learned is that Gary is a young-at-heart guy who simply never had the chance to learn the basics. He needs guidance, structure, and someone willing to help him grow. His current Foster is not the best fit for him.The good news? Gary is incredibly smart and very trainable. He recently visited our friends at Brinks K-9 Training, and Dave absolutely raved about him — calling him a “goooood dog!” He’s excited to help Gary polish his leash manners and take his training to the next level. Gary just needs a confident leader to show him the way.He has a pretty solid foundation with house training but may still have an occasional accident as he continues learning. He likely has a bit of hound in him and does have a strong small-prey drive. He does well with other dogs, but his play style can be a little rambunctious — especially for older or lower-energy dogs. We are actively looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home for Gary while he completes his heartworm treatment. If you have the patience, structure, and heart to help this good boy become his very best self, please reach out. The link to apply is in the comments below.Heartworm treatment requires activity restrictions. Once Gary starts treatment, he will have to be on a leash only, no running, no jumping and crate rest. We need a home that can get him to his appointments at a clinic either in Logan or Somerset. Other pets in your home must be spayed and neutered, current on vaccines, and on regular prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm disease. Let’s give Gary the chance he deserves. 🐾. How about a one week pupdate. One whole week with mama Bella and her babies. We finally feel like we are out of the woods and can breath a little easier. It’s been a rough week as Monday started out with bloody diarrhea that had us fearing Parvo. A mad dash to Logan Animal Clinic determined that her body was just reacting to all the stress she’d been through as all her tests came back negative including a fecal. She’s had two sets of bloodwork this week and her RBC is almost back to normal. Coming soon are individual pictures of what we are calling the Storybook Litter, because they certainly deserve a happy ending.Photo credit to our freaking awesome, rockstar foster, Wendy Stallsmith Wilson Photography. ... What We Do

Rescue Animals in Need of Care and a home

We help dogs and cats in Perry County, OH, that need to find loving homes.

Advocate Responsible Pet Ownership

Find out what it takes to be the best pet parent(s). Understand finances, vet care and laws.

Promote Spay & Neuter of Animals

Please don’t contribute to the over-population problems that exist today.

Find Pets A Loving Home

It’s more than providing food, water and shelter. It’s about LOVE.

Foster a Dog or Cat

Temporarily caring for an animal before it finds its forever home can be one of the most rewarding experiences. You will care for the animal and provide insight into its personality while it’s waiting on adoption.

Sponsor an Animal's Adoption Fee

When you donate $250 to PAWS, you’re giving a dog or cat a new leash on life. You’re enabling our volunteers to intake pets in need, provide vet care, and find them a loving home — at no cost to the approved adopter.

Adopt a Dog or Cat

It melts our hearts to be able to see animals adopted and spoiled beyond belief by their new parent(s). If you have the space in your heart, your finances and your home — we welcome your application.
