Volunteers Who Match Pets with Loving Homes

Located in Perry County, OH,  PAWS – Perry Animal Welfare Society is a 501(c)3 that was established in 2018. Our mission is to re-home dogs and cats with loving and committed families.

We do not own or operate a shelter. We have an incredible team of volunteers and foster families who temporarily care for the pets we rescue.

We thoroughly review applications from those who apply to foster or adopt our dogs or cats. We do our best to ensure that the family or individual is committed to the pet’s care for its entire life.

We strive to make sure the pet is the best fit for the family or individual, and likewise.

Meet Lilly. She is 2.5 years old. Unfortunately her owners living situation has changed. They are living in a home where the other dog does not like Lilly and she is regularly being attacked. Lilly is the goodest girl. She loves other dogs and cats. She is housebroken and loves car rides. She does not deserve the life she is currently living. She is spayed and has an appointment for a check up and to get her vaccines updated. If you can give Lilly a peaceful life where she doesn’t have to fear for her safety please apply using the link in the comments below. Other pets in your home must be spay/neutered, current on vaccinations and on regular prevention for fleas/ticks and heartworm. Please share, this girl needs a place to land sooner rather than later. ... A good portion of the dogs we take in test positive for Lyme disease. Below is just a sample of the dogs we’ve treated this year. Poor Gary, he’s also heartworm positive. Ginger and Maple both had Lyme while pregnant. This is the start of flea, tick and mosquito season. What most people don’t know is that the cold weather does not kill ticks. When it gets below freezing they go dormant. A mild winter day and these nasty things are up and moving and looking for their next dinner. It is important to use preventatives year round. It’s considered part of the basic care of your cat/dog and is absolutely a requirement if you want to adopt from us. Lyme disease has become so prevalent that the Lyme vaccine is something we not only recommend, but has become a core vaccine for the animals in our care. Left untreated, Lyme can cause kidney failure. The first symptom is often lameness/limping. Please see your veterinary provider to get the best prevention for your lifestyle and pet.*These dogs have all been adopted but Gary ... See MoreSee Less

What We Do

Rescue Animals in Need of Care and a home

We help dogs and cats in Perry County, OH, that need to find loving homes.

Advocate Responsible Pet Ownership

Find out what it takes to be the best pet parent(s). Understand finances, vet care and laws.

Promote Spay & Neuter of Animals

Please don’t contribute to the over-population problems that exist today.

Find Pets A Loving Home

It’s more than providing food, water and shelter. It’s about LOVE.

Foster a Dog or Cat

Temporarily caring for an animal before it finds its forever home can be one of the most rewarding experiences. You will care for the animal and provide insight into its personality while it’s waiting on adoption.

Sponsor an Animal's Adoption Fee

When you donate $250 to PAWS, you’re giving a dog or cat a new leash on life. You’re enabling our volunteers to intake pets in need, provide vet care, and find them a loving home — at no cost to the approved adopter.

Adopt a Dog or Cat

It melts our hearts to be able to see animals adopted and spoiled beyond belief by their new parent(s). If you have the space in your heart, your finances and your home — we welcome your application.
